Judging Criteria

General

  • Presenter: Articulate in their presentation; appear to be familiar with the subject material
  • Questions: Presenter is able to field questions well from the audience
  • Visual: Slides are appropriate to the presentation; easy to comprehend; appropriate number
  • Time: Presentation took an appropriate amount of time

Case Report

  • Overall: Pertinence of the case report to anesthesia
  • Presentation: Clearly presents the important points of the case
  • Discussion: Adequate sources used; adequate and clear discussion of the anesthesia aspects involved

Literature Review

  • Topic: Appropriateness of the topic to anesthesiology practice
  • Content: Appears to cover current, up-to-date material on the subject; appropriate source material
  • Discussion: Clearly explains / condenses the relevant portions of the subject

Original Research

  • Hypothesis: Clearly stated; the question is supported by the presented literature
  • Methods: Appropriateness of methods used to study of the hypothesis
  • Results: Clearly presented, and results support or reject the hypothesis
  • Conclusion: Able to synthesize the presented data in a succinct, clear, logical conclusion
